KeHE Expands Distribution Network with Scannell Properties in Denver and Douglasville

Scannell Properties has been selected as a partner to develop two state-of-the-art distribution facilities for KeHE Distributors - providers of natural & organic, specialty, and fresh products to natural food stores and chain grocery stores. The new warehouses will be located in Douglasville, GA and the Denver suburb of Aurora, CO. The new, LEED certified, distribution facilities include roughly 450,000 square feet for the Douglasville facility and will include over 100,000 square feet of freezer/cooler space. The 270,000 Aurora facility will include approximately 60,000 square feet of freezer/cooler space and land for future facility expansion.

Frederick Regnery, Principal with Colliers (Logistics and Transportation Solutions) represented KeHE Distributors with both transactions.  Mr. Regnery commented (that) “to accommodate the growth of both existing and new customers KeHE undertook a multi-state selection process to identify sites for new distribution facilities in the southeast and Colorado regions.”

The optimized proximity to our customers helps reduce time in our supply chain and our carbon footprint. In addition, we believe this expansion enables our vendor community with more efficient shipping. The new facilities are larger and carry a wider assortment of products”, said Mike Leone, KeHE Chief Commercial Officer.
 
Another positive output of this expansion is that KeHE will be providing quality jobs in both communities. Approximately 138 jobs are expected at the Douglasville facility, a combination of transfers and new jobs.  Wendy Mitchell, President and CEO of the Aurora Economic Development Council states,“The fact that KeHE chose Aurora for its new distribution facility speaks to the quality development our city has become known for. Creating more than 180 jobs in our community keeps Aurora at the forefront of attracting industrial projects and continues to grow our economy.”
